Lodging Guide

New Mexico Nomad focuses on food and travel, targeting locals as well as potential visitors nationwide and internationally. The goal is to entice people to explore New Mexico and to add to their bucket lists by highlighting outstanding options for dining, lodging and activities. I designed the Lodging Guide based on fundamental marketing tenets and the ability to produce verifiable results, with a specific focus on consistency and cost.

Most small businesses don’t have substantial marketing budgets, which makes traditional media cost prohibitive. Additionally, New Mexico’s saturated media market creates niches, which means using one media resource usually doesn’t reach a business owner’s prospective client base. Furthermore, traditional media has become stagnant in terms of adding large numbers of new readers, listeners or viewers yearly.

The New Mexico Nomad’s social media audience is growing by 3,000-5,000/month on average. Campaigns are annual to maximize exposure. The cost for a listing is comparable to a one month ad in Local Flavor or a small ad for a week or two in the Weekly Alibi; however, the cost doesn’t reflect the value or impact of this campaign. The purpose of New Mexico Nomad is to develop a large audience, which doubles as an affordable and accessible marketing option for high quality, locally owned, small businesses that I legitimately recommend. It is advocacy rather than an ad.

Copy, photos, and video can be changed throughout the year. Traffic to the webpage and reach of individual posts can be tracked and reported (extra fee for comprehensive annual reporting due to time involved…no charge for basic reporting or 30 day snapshots). As more participants are added, the page will be broken down by market (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Ruidoso, Taos, Las Cruces, etc.) to make it easy to navigate. The interactive map provides a visual overview.

Adventure Pricing Plans

Basic Listing | $500/year

The basic listing appears as a post on the Lodging Guide. Most of the traffic to this page comes from Twitter and Facebook via posts promoting the campaign, as well as integration throughout the website to facilitate internal traffic.

Premium Listing (Limited to 10/year) | $750/year

The premium listing allows businesses to provide more history, to tell their story, or to provide more detail related to products or services offered. The expanded content allows for more photos, video or slideshows to pique the interest of prospective visitors. It allows proprietors to highlight the ambience as well as rooms and amenities.

Furthermore, by telling a story and delving into more detail, the post becomes viable as a stand alone article. This allows me to post the article separately from the Lodging Guide, which increases exposure and impressions significantly.

Premium listings are highlighted on the Lodging Guide page and incorporated throughout the website. As more partners are added, I will be adding dining and lodging options on the sidebars of every page based on location, e.g. Bisti featuring Farmington, Aztec, Bloomfield or White Sands featuring Alamogordo, Tularosa, Las Cruces, Cloudcroft, and Ruidoso.

Social Media Advocacy (Limited to 10/year) | $1250/year

This package is intended to augment and amplify existing social media marketing efforts OR to serve as a surrogate for businesses with a limited social media footprint. The tactics vary based on the company’s social media profile and priorities (growth vs. increased engagement/reach, etc). Participation is limited due to the need to keep the content composition balanced on Nomad social media platforms (history, activities, food, travel, etc).

The Social Media Advocacy is tailored to each participant’s objectives, but the parameters consist of bi-weekly posts on Twitter and Facebook OR weekly posts on one social media channel. This is based on sharing content on behalf of companies who are active on social media or creating content on behalf of companies who are not active on social media.
